Cornell University's Buffalo Labor Studies program features four new courses for its fall semester beginning Thursday, he school announced.

The extension of Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations has added "Personal Computers as a Union Tool," "Science, Technology and Labor," "Privacy Issues in the Workplace," and "Bargaining Health Care Benefits" to its course schedule.

The school's certificate program, designed for union officers and agents and corporate labor relations staff, holds day and evening classes at two locations on Maryvale Drive in Cheektowaga. Courses cost $157.50 to $315 and carry 1.5 to 3 credits toward a labor studies certificate.

Richard Lipsitz Jr., recently appointed director of labor programs, was previously a business agent with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 264 in Buffalo. He replaces Alex Blair, now a Cornell senior extension associate.
