DISTANT KIN OF ROYALS ADMITS TO COCAINE USE

Lord Frederick Windsor, a junior member of the royal family, has admitted to snorting cocaine -- and his mother said Sunday that she is confident that he will not do it again.

The 20-year-old Windsor -- whose father, Prince Michael of Kent, is a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II -- acknowledged snorting cocaine off a glossy magazine at a party in London three months ago.

"I brought my children up to be anti-drugs," Princess Michael of Kent said in a statement. "I am disappointed that he experimented in this way, but he has assured me that he will not do it again, and I believe him."

Windsor, 28th in line to the British throne, apparently was confronted by British reporters in New York, where has been working for a finance company during summer vacation from Oxford. He is studying classics, Latin and Greek at the university.
