As the summer draws to a close, I felt it was time to comment on the events we have attended at the Erie Basin Marina in the past few weeks. As boaters in this great boating area, we are always looking for a place to go. There certainly is a shortage of restaurants on the waterfront.
I am pleased to say that the three events we attended -- the Waterfront Festival, Buffalo Rocks the Harbor and the Wine Fest -- were great. All three were wonderful, well-planned events. Unfortunately, as we entered the Harbor inside Erie Basin Marina, what did we see but the horrible shell of the former Crawdaddy's. It is a blight on an otherwise beautiful area.
We have a great waterway right in our own back yard, yet we can't seem to bring it to its full potential. We should all work together and make our area a draw like Cleveland, Toronto and Baltimore. They have fabulous waterfronts and plenty to do all season long, not just on a few select weekends at the end of the summer.
