They may not be all you need for dashing, elegant and suave picnics. They're just a great start. Take note of the three picnic baskets, all made by Picnic Time and available at Premier Gourmet in Kenmore. Inside are more plates, stemware and utensils than pedestrian picnicees could imagine. The Columbus picnic backpack at far left ($80) includes a cotton tablecloth and napkins, and an oak cutting board. The Cafe Express, far right, comes with sugar, cream, spoons and mugs, all in a tight little pouch. Both are insulated, so they can keep drinks hot or sandwiches cool. And they are designed more like backpacks than baskets. "You don't have to carry these," says Kathy Tabbi of Premier. "Everything goes on your back." The California basket in the middle ($100) gives the traditional picnic design new style. "They're picnic baskets for the new millennium," says Ms. Tabbi.
