A Cheektowaga woman was killed and three other people were injured in a two-car accident Friday night in Port Colborne, Ont., when two sport utility vehicles collided on Highway 3, Ontario Provincial Police said Saturday.
Police said Mary Lou Comisso, 38, was fatally injured in the accident, which occurred at about 9:45 p.m. when a 1995 Chevy Blazer driven by Tim Churchill, 41, also of Cheektowaga, was struck by a car driven by Peter Scalzo, 26, of Port Colborne. The westbound Blazer was attempting to turn left onto Empire Road from Highway 3. Ms. Comisso, a passenger in Churchill's car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Churchill was transferred from Welland County Hospital to Erie County Medical Center and was listed in stable condition in its trauma intensive care unit Saturday night.
Scalzo was taken to Welland County Hospital and was listed in stable condition Saturday after surgery.
His passenger, Heather Biggs, 18, of Welland, Ont., was treated in Port Colborne Hospital and released Saturday afternoon, hospital officials said.
