The Republican, Independence and Conservative party lines in the race for Chautauqua County surrogate judge are up for grabs in the Sept. 14 primary.
Vying for the Republican line are Susan K. Amsler, Walter F. Drag and Stephen W. Cass, who was endorsed by the county committee. The Independence line is sought by Frederick A. Larson and Cass.
The Conservative line is sought by Ms. Amsler and Cass. Larson is the endorsed Democratic candidate.
Other primary contests include:
Jamestown -- Mayoral candidates Anthony J. Raffa and Samuel Teresi are running for the Democratic and Independence lines. In County Legislative District 16, Christine A. Barinide is on the Republican ballot. Voters also can choose to write in a candidate's name.
Dunkirk -- Republican voters can write in names for candidates for mayor and Fourth Ward Councilman. Democrats can choose between Shaun P. Heenan and Richard Makuch, who are running for councilman-at-large.
Town of Carroll -- Democratic voters can choose between Barbara S. Miles and Edith R. Moore, who are running for town clerk, while Thomas E. Allison and Richard K. Turk are vying for the line in the highway superintendent's race.
Town of Ellington -- Donald L. Steward and Casey P. Rhinehart are vying for the Republican line in the highway superintendent's race.
