Fernando Carrillo, a star of Spanish soap operas, says he's hoping to be acquitted quickly of misdemeanor drug charges.
"I don't think this will jeopardize my career, because I'm innocent," Carrillo said Thursday to a crowd of largely Spanish-language press. "We all make mistakes. This has been a hold on my career for two days. I want to get it over with."
Carrillo, 33, was arrested Tuesday on marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession charges. Police say they found bags of marijuana in the Jeep driven by Carrillo's brother after it was pulled over for allegedly speeding through a school zone.
The Venezuelan actor was in Miami Beach to begin work on a new album, said Angela Rodriguez, his publicist.
