KROENING ANNOUNCES BID FOR TOWN HIGHWAY POST

County Legislator Arthur F. Kroening announced he is running for town highway superintendent.

After 10 years as 8th District legislator, Kroening, who lives in the hamlet of Bergholz, decided to seek the full-time town position. He has been endorsed by the Republican, Independence, Conservative, Liberal and Right to Life parties. He faces a GOP primary against Howard J. Brubaker.

Kroening said he has worked in construction for 20 years. From 1979 to 1989, he delivered and installed concrete pipe for M.L. Young, and since 1989 he has worked for Haseley Construction, "which does essentially the same type of work as the Highway Department."

Kroening is head constable for the town. He has been a member of the Bergholz Fire Company for 29 years, and previously served as its chief and president.
