- Eleven students from the Music Department of Niagara Falls High School have been selected to perform All-County music ensembles at the festivals of the Niagara County Music Educator's Association.
The students were selected based upon scores at auditions held in December 1998 at Edward Belknap School in Lockport.
Selected to the NCMEA All-County Junior High Band are: Krystal Rossi and Melissa Labuda, flute; Amanda Stewart, french horn; Laura DeBacco, euphonium; Michael Lowery, trombone; and Megan Miner, tuba. All of these students are members of the high school Concert Band.
In addtion, Krystal Rossi, flute, has been selected to perform in the NCMEA All-County Junior High Orchestra.
Selected to the NCMEA All-County Senior High Band are: Diana Hall and Paula Molfese, clarinet; Lynn Ligammari, alto saxophone; and Lindsay Guild, french horn. All of these students are members of the high school Wind Ensemble.
In addition, Diana Hall, clarinet; and Christina Andropolis, violin, have been selected to perform in the NCMEA All-County Senior High Orchestra.
Lynn Ligammari, a senior, has also been selected to perform as lead alto saxophone in the NCMEA All-County Jazz Ensemble.
The director of bands at Niagara Falls High School is Mr. Paul M. Wos.
- Lucy Muto, vice president and manager of Marin Midland Bank's Pine 19th Street Branch was recently re-elected to serve as President of the Pine Avenue Business Association (PABA) for another one-year term.
Ms. Muto has served on the organization's executive board since 1995. She lives in Lewsiton with her husband, Dominic, and their two children.
A native of the Pine Avenue area, Ms. Muto served on the executive board of Niagara Falls Neighborhood Housing Services.
She has also served on the board of directors of the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club and the board of directors for the American Cancer Society-Niagara County Unit.

Evergreen opened in 1997 afrer Ms. Sarafin purchased the building at a city auction. The building was the former Hilt's Drug store.
Last year, the business expanded into the former Snow White Cleaners.
Business persons for the year were Merrell Lane and Robert Lan Jr. of the Lane Funeral Home. Merrell Lane is the association secretary and Robert Lane Jr. is a member of the board of directors and former treasurer of the association.
The incoming president for 1999 is Cynthia Hatalak of Access for Independent Living, a business that started on Buffalo Avenue. Ms. Hatalak is a resident of Cayuga Island.
Among her plans for the association in the coming year are emphassis on membership development and on rehabilitation of the business area between 72nd Street and 78th Street on Buffalo Avenue.
The LaSalle community service award was given to Cub Pack 841 and Boy Scout Troop 841 of St. John de LaSalle Church.
The scouts participate in the annual clean sweep and completed a major cleanup last fall. Accepting the awards were Vincent Pellegrino of Troop 841 and Doreen Poole of Pack 841.
New directors for the upcoming year are Sean O'Connor, Craig Bailey and Kent Richardson.
