Thomas C. Sacher Sr., 80, of Mayville died Friday (Jan. 29, 1999) in the Westfield Health Care Center in Westfield after a brief illness.
Born in Buffalo, he attended East High School and served in the merchant marine and the U.S. Coast Guard between 1943 and 1947. He worked for the State Thruway Authority as a projectionist showing films in area schools on safe driving. He retired after 20 years in 1980.
He was a member of the William L. Travis Post American Legion, Mayville, and was past commander from 1991 to 1993. He also was a member of Mayville-Chautauqua Lions Club; Moose Lodge 118, Westfield, and DADS of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8647, Mayville; the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club; Vikings Lodge 65, Jamestown; and War Vets REC of Jamestown.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas F. of Elma and Timothy L. of Pulski; one daughter, Cynthia Ebert of Holland; a step-daughter, Patricia Samonia of Mayville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Freay Funeral Home, 139 S. Erie St., Mayville. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
