India Snell pleaded guilty Friday to causing the death of her 2 1/2 -year-old son, Jalen McDaniel, by throwing him onto his bed, then ignoring the head injury he suffered.
She pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter before State Supreme Court Justice Joseph S. Forma.
An autopsy showed the boy died of blunt-force trauma to the head from the incident in his Sears Street flat late Nov. 21. Forma said he is considering a prison term of 10 to 12 1/2 years and ordered Ms. Snell, 28, to remain jailed pending sentencing March 5.
Ms. Snell's three other children, ages 1, 3 and 4, are living with relatives.
