JOB LOSS SERVICES OFFERED

Genesee Community College announced Friday that it has convened its Community Response Team to offer assistance to employees of Kaufman Footwear Corp., which recently announced the closing later this year of its Batavia plant.

College President Stuart Steiner said that 35 Kaufman workers have already spoken with career and academic counselors. These were employees laid off last year when the boot manufacturer began to curtail local operations.

The Community Response Team offers a variety of career and educational services to families facing job loss. It was last mobilized a year ago when the Champion Products plant in Perry closed.
