Ruth Mushat Sorrells, 71, a homemaker and retired nurse, died last Friday (Jan. 22, 1999) in the Buffalo home of her son after a brief illness.
Born in Canton, Ohio, she moved with her family to Buffalo as a young woman and graduated from Hutchinson-Central High School. She attended night school to earn nursing credentials and worked for several years in area hospitals before retiring because of her health.
She was an active member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church, involved with teaching Sunday school classes and helping with the church's food pantry.
Surviving are two sons, Trent of Indianapolis and Lloyd; a daughter, Noreen Posey of Detroit; two sisters, Juanita Jackson of Cleveland and Dolores Sanders of Detroit; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services wil be held at 11 this morning in St. Philip's Church, 15 Fernhill Ave. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
