Ban hunting in Lancaster? Not likely, according to a recent News article, because all the hunters and the NRA would protest. It is time the citizens do what local governments are afraid to do -- take back their towns. People should post their land against hunting. If the majority of property owners got together and posted their land and surrounding areas, then the hunters would have to go elsewhere.
Why should people like the residents of Westwood Road have to put up with slugs piercing the walls of their homes? Why should property owners have to become nervous wrecks during hunting season? Many hunters trespass anyway, but having the property posted makes it easier to prosecute.
Of course, the law should be reversed -- those who want hunters on their land should have to post "for hunting" signs and all other property should be off-limits. But until that happens, Lancaster residents should all post their land. Then they could literally create their own hunting ban.
