Gary E. Richards, 64, of Alabama Place, who retired from the former Harrison Division of General Motors, died Wednesday (Jan. 27, 1999) in the Briody Health Care Facility.

A native of Lockport, Richards worked for 35 years at Harrison, retiring as a product engineer in 1992. He was a graduate of the General Motors Institute in Detroit.

A skiing enthusiast, Richards was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 36 years and an original member of the Ski Club of Lockport.

He was an instructor for the Red Cross and also taught cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In addition, he was a certified scuba diver and licensed pilot.

Richards was a member of Red Jacket Lodge 646, F&AM, Lockport Sports Car Club and the Sports Car Club of America.

Survivors include his wife, Olga A. Richards; and a brother, Robert J. of Niagara Falls.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
