Rose M. Pavan, a former waitress, died Wednesday (Jan. 27, 1999) in Fairchild Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. She was 87.
Born Rose Mamon in Niagara Falls, she lived on Ellicott Drive before moving into the nursing home.
She worked as a waitress for several restaurants and was employed by Nabisco Shredded Wheat Co. in Niagara Falls for many years before World War II. During the war, she worked for Bell Aircraft Co. in Wheatfield.
Mrs. Pavan also worked as a clerk at the former McDonald's White House Dairy for many years.
She enjoyed sewing and was considered an excellent seamstress.
Mrs. Pavan was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Upper Mountain Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and Niagara County Cooperative Extension.
Her husband, Tullio J., died in 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Gregory of Belle Mead, N.J., and Gary of Williamstown, N.J.; a daughter, Joyce Malinchock; two brothers, Walter Mamon of Niagara Falls and Julian "Lefty" Mamon; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Church, 600 Center St., after prayers at 9 in Rhoney Funeral Home, Cayuga and South Ninth streets. Entombment will be in Riverdale Cemetery.
