ALFRED SPEAKER TO RETURN

Alfred University's commencement speaker from last May is coming back.

Author Thomas Cahill is scheduled to give the annual Russell Lecture Feb. 2 in Harder Hall.

Cahill, whose books in what he calls the Hinges of History series explore Irish and Jewish contributions to civilization, plans a talk on bringing the dead to life next month.

The lecture is free and open to the public at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2.

Cahill's son Joseph graduated from Alfred in May during the commencement he addressed.
