Sweet Home Central School District residents are voting today on a 10-year, $7.78 million bond issue for the proposed Dexter Terrace School
renovation project.

Polls at the middle school, 4150 Maple Road, will be open until 9 p.m. Proposed is a 33,400-square-foot addition to the school at 333 Dexter Terrace, to house 20 classrooms, a library gym and faculty room, and the renovation of the existing building, including roof reconstruction and improved handicapped accessibility.

District officials say the project will not impact the tax rate, because the state Education Department will pick up $5.9 million of the cost and Erie 1, Board of Cooperative Educational Services, will pay out $1.8 million to lease the facility over 10 years. Currently, the building houses a BOCES alternative middle school and occupational education programs, and private day-care center.
