Gloria Abbamonte, 57, of North French Road, Amherst, a registered nurse and a native of Niagara Falls, died Sunday (Jan. 24, 1999) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness.
The former Gloria Schoenherr was the valedictorian of the Class of 1959 at LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls. She graduated from Niagara County Community College as a registered nurse.
Mrs. Abbamonte was a member of the 365th Division Medical Unit of the Army Reserve stationed in Niagara Falls. Because of illness, she retired in 1989 as nursing director for Quality Care in Lockport. She previously had worked as a nurse in Mount St. Mary's Hospital and at North Gate Manor Nursing Home, Wheatfield.
She was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Abbamonte of Amherst; a son, Philip Narron of Sanborn; two daughters, Veronica Narron Kittok of New Orleans and Cynthia Narron Gibbs of Manteo, N.C.; a sister, Julia Germain of Akron, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Grace Lutheran Church, 716 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston.
