The Salamanca and Olean city fire departments are offering carbon monoxide detectors to residents at a reduced cost.
Salamanca Fire Chief Barney Lee said the Salamanca Firemen's Association and the City of Olean Fire Department are participating with the Hite Co. of Olean to make them available.
The detectors are being sold for $19.99 and are available in both battery and electrical models. Also available for $34.99 is a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector.
Lee said city firefighters will assist with installation if requested by a homeowner.
The units are available at the city fire hall and in Olean at the Hite Co. at 3153 W. State Road.
