WILSON GREATBATCH CHIEF TO DISCUSS NEW WAYS TO MEASURE RESULTS

Edward Voboril, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Wilson Greatbatch Ltd., will discuss "The Balanced Scorecard: New Ways of Measuring Results" at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 19 in the Campus Center of Hilbert College, 5200 South Park Ave., Hamburg.

A $10 fee will cover the cost of a continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m.

Voboril was president and general manager of the biomedical division of PPG Industries before joining Wilson Greatbatch as president and chief executive officer in 1990. He became chairman of the board in 1997.

Vice president and general manager of the medical electronic division of Honeywell before it was acquired by PPG in 1996, Voboril has also held executive positions in the medical businesses of General Electric, Syntex and Litton Industries.

Cable Advertising Expo set for Midland Arena

The world of cable advertising will be on display for businesses, ad agencies and other buyers of advertising at the Cable Advertising Expo to be held Thursday at the Marine Midland Arena.

Among the companies attending will be ratings czar Nielsen Media Research and research suppliers International Demographics and TapScan Systems.

Representatives from 20 cable channels, ranging from A&E to the Weather Channel, will also be on hand.

The event, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., drew 500 attendees in 1998, the expo's first year, according to organizer Media Partners, the ad sales division of Adelphia Communications.

Visitors can show their business card or an Expo invitation to gain admittance.

Business group appoints Bailen
