Every winter, the parking lot at LaSalle Metro Park and Ride is filled with wet, slushy snow and mounds of plowed snow left by the crews who maintain this lot. Negotiating these obstacles on foot on the way from the car to the station entrance can be a daunting experience for all but the more agile and nimble-footed.
Imagine my pleasant surprise on Jan. 20 when I discovered my "favorite" park-and-ride lot was plowed neatly to the pavement and liberally strewn with copious amounts of rock salt. Kudos to the Metro maintenance team -- or was it really because of the Clinton/Gore affair at Marine Midland Arena? Is an event like this what it takes to get the job done right? For shame.
