GOP TO NAME AVERY VOTING MACHINE INSTRUCTOR

Arthur Avery of North Tonawanda will be appointed county Republican voting machine instructor, GOP election commissioner Michael J. Norris said.

Avery will take over the post in April. The part-time job pays $3,235. Norris said Avery, a retired Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems machinist, will start the job after he returns from his winter vacation.

Norris said Avery is a GOP committeeman and former North Tonawanda GOP vice chairman.

Avery succeeds John E. Group of Wilson, who departed when former commissioner Lucille L. Britt was ousted at the end of 1998.
