WOMAN CHARGED WITH WELFARE FRAUD

A North Tonawanda woman was arrested Friday on welfare fraud charges for allegedly stealing $2,536 in cash benefits and food stamps from Niagara County, said Sheriff's Investigator John Fink.

Sherry L. Ciembor, 28, of Nash Road was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and misuse of food stamps. She is accused of applying for and accepting $2,028 in public-assistance money and $508 in food stamps from Feb. 4, 1997, to May 31, 1998, without disclosing state unemployment benefits and other income she received during that period, Fink said.
