Helen T. Regan, of Pompano Beach, Fla., widow of former Erie County Surrogate Judge William J. Regan, died in Fort Lauderdale Thursday (Jan. 21, 1999) after a long illness. She was 86.
Mrs. Regan resided in Snyder with her husband until his death in 1985 when she moved to Florida.
She was active in many religious, civic, charitable and other organizations serving as past president of Christ the King Rosary and Altar Society, past director of the Women's Auxiliary of the Erie County Bar Association, past parliamentarian of the Sultans of Cordova, past president of the Parents' Guild of Mount St. Joseph Academy, past president of the Parents' Association of the Western New York District of Syracuse University, past vice president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Salvation Army, and librarian of the Amherst Book Club.
Mrs. Regan was a member of Amherst Republican Women's Club; the auxiliary of Edward Daly Post, American Legion; the Canisius College Scholarship Association; the Rosary Hill College Guild; the Country Club of Buffalo; the 20th Century Club; and the Buffalo Federation of Women's Clubs.
She was a volunteer with the United Fund, the Cancer Society, the Heart Fund, the Leukemia Society, the American Red Cross and the American Girl Scouts.
Survivors include two daughters, Maureen Estrin of Olney, Md., and Marcia Hunt of Sea Ranch Lakes, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Prayers will be offered at 9 a.m. Monday in Roberts and Dengler Funeral Home, 8630 Transit Road, East Amherst, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Christ the King Catholic Church, Main Street and Lamarck Drive, Snyder. Private interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
