RETIREMENT PARTY -- A party for Amherst Police Chief John B. Askey is planned from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Marriott Inn on Millersport Highway. Askey, 59, is retiring Jan. 31 after a decade as police chief and a career spanning 35 years. Tickets are $30 and may be obtained at the police station at 500 John James Audubon Parkway or by calling 689-1322 or 689-1351.

SPAGHETTI DINNER -- Cub Scout Pack 223 will serve a spaghetti dinner from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, William and Peoria streets, Cheektowaga. The tab is $5 for adults, $3 for children 5 to 12 and free for kids 4 and younger. For more information, call 895-1317. . . .

AUDITIONS will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the UB Center for the Arts for a film to be made in February under the auspicies of VP Productions. The film, which will explore racial ideologies and relationships, needs a white male lead, a black male lead and a white female in the 17-to-22 age range, plus many extra parts for minorities.
