A Youngstown woman was arrested Thursday after she was accused of stealing two credit cards and three checks from two people she assists as a personal aide and using them to obtain about $2,500 in cash and merchandise, Niagara County Sheriff's Investigator Patrick Weidel said.
Cherie Mayhue, 21, of 409 Main St., Apt. 2, who works for an area agency, was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, Weidel said.
Ms. Mayhue is accused of stealing two credit cards in October from Janet Slack of Ridge Road, Middleport, and using them to make $2,074 in purchases. She also is accused of stealing two checks from a handicapped Niagara Falls woman and cashing them at the Summit Park Mall, Wheatfield, for a total of $429.62, Weidel said.
