Muriel G. Prenatt, a homemaker and area church musician, died Tuesday (Jan. 19, 1999) in Lakewood Care Center, Hamburg, after a lengthy illness. She was 85.
A native of Sydney, Nova Scotia, she came to Buffalo with her family in 1924. She graduated from South Park High School with the highest honors in 1929.
She was a secretary for a food brokerage for five years before her marriage.
Mrs. Prenatt was a longtime member of the old South Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, choir member and Sunday school teacher, and she was a founder and past president of the School 67 Parent-Teacher Association.
After resuming her study of organ and choral conducting, she later served as director of music at several churches, including Cleveland Hill United Methodist Church.
Her husband of 48 years, Paul H., died in 1982.
She is survived by two sons, David S. of West Seneca and Harold of Woburn, Mass.; a daughter, Barbara R. Reichert of Hamburg; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Grace Lutheran Church, McKinley Parkway and Newton Road, Hamburg. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Orchard Park.
