Bell Atlantic announced Thursday that it has assigned the majority of its Western New York operations workers to repairing telephone lines disrupted by the heavy snow earlier this month. The company is receiving three times as many trouble reports than usual.

"This may result in a delay in the installation of new service or additional lines for some customers because technicians who normally handle such installations are assigned to repairing lines knocked out by the storms," said Mary Jane Johnston, director of operations for Bell Atlantic in Western New York.
