St. Bonaventure won its first game in the Atlantic 10 with an 86-72 women's basketball victory over La Salle at the Reilly Center Thursday night. Melissa Fazio had 20 points and Erin Sober 17 for the Bonnies (7-10 overall, 1-6 league). The Bonnies shot 57 percent from the floor in the first half to open a 44-30 lead at intermission.
Elsewhere, Sarah Adkins had 23 points to lead Fredonia to a 67-25 win over Hilbert (0-10).
MEN'S BASKETBALL: Brian Pettit (McKinley) had 18 points and 16 rebounds and Junior Soler added 16 points as Daemen beat D'Youville, 94-46, in a non-league game. The Warriors improved to 13-6 overall. . . . Matt Moore had 16 points and Mike Gibbons (Olean) added 15 as Fredonia downed Hilbert, 58-49. . . . Chris Violante and Louis Mason (Seneca) had 19 points each for Medaille in an 85-68 loss to St. John Fisher.
MEN'S SWIMMING: The University at Buffalo improved to 4-0 after beating Big 4 rival St. Bonaventure, 136-101, at Alumni Arena. The Bulls were led by North Tonawanda graduate Eric Stimson (200 IM, 200 back, 400 medley relay), Dan Hickey (100 and 200 free, 200 free relay) and John Nilles (50 free, 400 medley, 200 free relay).
