Sidney T. Pittard, a former welder and television and appliance repairman, died Saturday (Nov. 28, 1998) in his Maple Ridge Road home after a lengthy illness. He was 80.
Pittard was born in Medina, grew up in the area and attended local schools.
In his early teens, he operated a television repair business as well as working for Dutcher's TV and Appliance Store. He then worked for the H.J. Heinz Company.
Pittard worked as a welder for the former Harrison Radiator in Lockport until his retirement in 1978.
He was a past member and president of the Medina Eagles Club and a past member of the Odd Fellows. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed spending winter months of his retirement in Lakeland, Fla., with his wife of 54 years, the former Rose Woodrich.
In addition to his wife, Pittard is survived by a daughter, Carol Feltz of Barker; and a granddaughter.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby.
