Since the traffic jam on the Peace Bridge is composed mainly of large trucks, why don't we delay plans to twin the bridge for awhile and construct an international span for commercial traffic only? This could be located down the river a piece, enabling us to send the enormous volume of trucks away from our neighborhoods while reducing the backlog. After all, the West Side can use all the help it can get.
Also, is anyone taking notice of the possible sale of the Tifft Farm property -- the part that adjoins the Nature Preserve? Our beautiful wild birds sometimes require a large tract of "gliding space" to touch down. If large buildings are constructed next to the preserve, the birds won't come. This land was never meant for commercial purposes. Can't something be done?
