A 17-year-old girl was arrested Monday and charged with assault after an incident at Salamanca Central High School in which another girl was slammed into lockers.
Police said the girl was charged with third-degree assault and given a ticket to appear in City Court at a later date before being released.
The victim, a 16-year old junior, was jumped during the assault and pushed about 100 feet down the school corridor. Teachers and students allegedly witnessed the incident.
A third girl intervened to break up the altercation and was reportedly suspended by school officials for her actions. Efforts to reach school officials were unsuccessful.
