The county Community Employment Office, a place for persons with disabilities to look for work, is now open at 2101 Military Road.
It serves as headquarters for the Niagara County Employment Consortium, comprising 12 local agencies who provide services for the disabled.
The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Niagara County is the lead agency. Other groups involved are Horizon Health Services; the Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities; Opportunities Unlimited; Community Missions; and Everywoman Opportunity Center.
Also, the state Labor Department; the Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped; Native American Community Services; Niagara Frontier Center for Independent Living; and the Niagara County Social Services Department.
The project is funded through a grant from the state Development Disabilities Planning Council.
