A four-car chain-reaction accident sent a Strykersville man to Lockport Memorial Hospital Monday, Deputy Bruce Elliott said.

The injured driver, Christopher J. Yargeau, 25, was charged with following too closely, triggering the accident on South Transit Road near Robinson Road at 12:49 p.m.

Yargeau's car struck a pickup driven by Maxine W. Trippensee, 66, of 9491 Ridge Road, Hartland, which in turn ran into the car of Mark S. Ciesla, 44, of 10720 Jones Road, Clarence. Ciesla, in turn, struck the pickup truck of James H. Swann, 53, of 5801 Dunnigan Road, Pendleton.

Elliott said Swann slowed down because of a car in front of him waiting to make a left turn, causing those behind him to hit the brakes.
