CLEANING CREW CANS STACK OF NEW STATE LAWS

While tidying up in a state office building recently, a cleaning crew did what many New Yorkers wish they could do with new state laws -- it threw them away.

Accidentally, of course.

The stack of 23 laws, which had previously been passed by local governments across the state, were mistakenly pitched by maintenance workers cleaning in a Department of State office earlier this month.

A department spokesman says the laws were left on a filing desk in the office and were evidently mistaken for wastepaper.
