I am writing in response to the woman who wrote "Ban on smoking only hurts restaurants." If I were her, I would be embarrassed to have had my name printed under that letter. Is she so blind that she doesn't realize that smoking kills? Why should I sit in a restaurant and inhale her smoke while I eat?
Second-hand smoke is as great a killer as that inhaled by the smoker who puffs away. She should wake up -- her smoking may kill her one day. If she doubts this, she should contact the American Cancer Society -- they will send her lots of reading materials on smoking.
The restaurants in Erie County will fare OK as long as they have provided enclosed spaces for those who wish to smoke.
