On a recent Sunday morning, I got up early to start my search for the toy my 9-year-old wants for Christmas -- a "Furby." Well, apparently a lot of children want one, because by 10:30 a.m. I had been to three stores and the mall and was unable to find one. What bothers me is that people at one store were buying five or six at a time.
It upsets me to think people are buying these so that they can put them in the classifieds for three times what they are worth. I have been trying to find this toy for the last few weeks, but now I really don't think I will be able to get my daughter what she would like for Christmas.
It's sad to think that people take advantage of what a child wants for Christmas and use it to make money for themselves. Christmas is still a month away, so I will continue my search. But with people buying more of them than they need, our Christmas tree will probably not have a Furby under it this year.
