A lively contest and a big morning crowd of 2,000 highlighted the first-ever Harvard Cup championship game played on Nov. 24, 1904. Masten Park put the finishing touches on an undefeated season, beating Central High School, 28-5. At the time, touchdowns were worth five points. The Buffalo Evening News reported that the boys from Masten Park won because they remained in "fresh condition" in the second half while their rivals from Niagara Square weakened.
