The Buffalo City Mission will celebrate the opening of its Second Chances Thrift Store Friday at 544 Dick Road, Cheektowaga.
The 8,000-square-foot store will offer new and used clothing and accessories, housewares, furniture, small appliances and books. As at traditional retail stores, customers arriving at Second Chances will be greeted by a trained sales associate.
Thomas McLaughlin, executive director of City Mission, says the proceeds from the store will go directly to help City Mission programs for the needy and homeless.
"Our goal is to add counselors who specialize in dealing with people who have addiction problems by early next year," McLaughlin explains.
McLaughlin says that the store will offer free clothing to anyone requesting it, "no questions asked."
The store also will take donated items.
