The Town and Village of Ellicottville may have to face community development issues for a short time without the services of a professional planner.
The resignation of Gary Palumbo as town and village planning director was accepted during a Tuesday night Ellicottville Town Board meeting.
Supervisor John Widger said Palumbo will leave the position in the third week of December to become a staff planner for TVGA Engineering and Surveying of Elma.
The Town and Village boards, which have shared Palumbo's salary and services for seven years, will have to launch a joint search for a replacement soon, he added.
The board also will:
Advertise the sale of two pieces of used highway equipment, including a three-quarter-ton truck and half-ton truck, which already have been replaced.
Turn over to the Town Planning Board Ellicottville Energy's request to change the zoning of five acres at Routes 219 and 242 from general commercial to light industry. Widger said company produces electricity and steam for its kiln-dried lumber and needs to expand.
Authorize maintenance of Town Line Road bordering the Town of West Valley for a family who plans to buy property and build a permanent residence. Until now, the road has been maintained only on a seasonal basis.
