MAN SOUGHT IN ATTEMPT TO ABDUCT WOMAN

Hamburg village police are seeking the public's help in apprehending a man who attempted to abduct a woman at about 6:20 a.m. today on Oakland Place.

The 38-year-old woman managed to fight off her attacker while out for a morning walk.

"He ran up to her and grabbed her from behind," said Lt. Michael Melisz of the village police. "She fought him off and screamed."

The assailant then fled and jumped in a dark red pickup truck, which was described as a late-'80s or early-'90s GMC or Chevrolet. The vehicle had an inadequate muffler, oversized wheels and no bed; a "For Sale" sign and numerous decals and stickers were on the back window.

Police are looking for a white man, about 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, possibly in his mid- to late-20s, with dark hair, a dark-colored jacket, dark pants and gloves.
