CANADIAN ARRESTED ON DRUG COUNTS AT BORDER

A Canadian resident was arrested on felony drug charges Tuesday when he tried to enter the United States at the Rainbow Bridge with about 4 grams of suspected cocaine in his possession, Officer Walter Nichols said.

Trent T. Essex, 23, of Muir Avenue, Niagara Falls, Ont., was charged with third-degree criminal possession of controlled substance with intent to sell and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was arrested at 6:35 a.m. after U.S. Immigration officers found four packets of the alleged drug in his possession, Nichols said.
