He has been state senator, mayor of Boston and U.S. ambassador to the Vatican. Now Ray Flynn is taking to the airwaves.
Two months after a bruising defeat in a Massachusetts congressional primary, Flynn made his debut as a radio talk show host last weekend.
In his first show, he bantered with the listeners of WRKO-AM on a topic that has, at times, been a thorn in his side.
"People in the media like to talk about what's important to people all the time," he said. "I don't think the media has any idea what they're talking about. It's all driven by ratings, by exposure."
It's a subject Flynn knows well. He was the subject of a 1997 Boston Globe article that painted him as a failed ambassador and a man with a drinking problem. Flynn denied the allegation.
