D'YOUVILLE TO HONOR NURSE KILLED IN VIETNAM WAR

Capt. Eleanor Grace Alexander, one of eight nurses killed during the Vietnam War, will be remembered Monday at D'Youville College.

A 1961 graduate of the college, she died Nov. 30, 1967, when the C-47 plane on which she was escorting wounded soldiers crashed into a mountain as it headed for Pleiku, Vietnam.

After her death, an Eleanor Grace Alexander Scholarship for Nursing Students was created at D'Youville. A bronze plaque in the lobby of the Health Science Building, where she took most of her nursing classes, was dedicated to her memory in 1993.

A memorial wreath will be placed beneath the plaque during the noon ceremony, sponsored by the college and its Student Nurses Association.
