A man was arrested early Sunday for pilfering an extension cord and eight light bulbs from a Festival of Lights display, Officer James Conte said.
Thomas J. Atkinson, 50, of Memorial Parkway was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
Conte said he saw Atkinson walking along a walkway off the 200 block of Third Street at 12:42 a.m., a 12-foot electrical cord trailing from a bag he was carrying. Atkinson said of the cord, "I found it."
Conte patted down the suspect and said three light bulbs fell out of Atkinson's jacket. Investigation determined the cord and bulbs were taken from a sled and toy soldier display, Conte said.
Five more light bulbs were found in Atkinson's possession when he was booked at Police Headquarters, Conte said.
