Tulane accepted Conference USA's automatic bid to the Liberty Bowl, contingent on the school not being invited to the Bowl Championship Series. . . . Southern Mississippi's Lee Roberts threw for 344 yards in a 55-28 victory over Nevada to give him 2,780 for the season, surpassing the mark of 2,588 Brett Favre set in 1989. . . . Brad Hoover rushed a school-record 49 times for 195 yards and two touchdowns as Western Carolina beat Appalachian State, 23-6.
Boston College's Mike Cloud (179 yards) outrushed West Virginia's Amos Zereoue (143), but the Mountaineers beat the Eagles, 35-10. Cloud, who has 3,597 career yards rushing, took over the Big East career rushing lead from Zereoue, who has 3,569 yards with one game left, Friday at Pittsburgh.
Purdue's Drew Brees was 20 for 33 for 237 yards and four TDs in a 52-7 victory over Indiana, setting Big Ten season records for completions (336), attempts (516) and yardage (3,753). He already held the conference record for TD passes with 36.
