Two small planes collided over a golf course Saturday, killing two people and critically injuring a third.
The planes collided near Scottsdale Airport's takeoff and landing area, sending one plane into a nose dive in the desert. The other glided about a quarter-mile before clipping its wing on an embankment at Kierland Golf Course and then flipping over, Fire Capt. Bob Kahn said.
Kahn said a 22-year-old man was taken to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital in critical condition. The person with whom he was flying died at the scene.
The other person killed was alone in the other plane.
