Robert Lee Burford, 54, of Amherst died Thursday (Nov. 19, 1998) at Roswell Park Memorial Cancer Institute after a lengthy illness.
Born in Charleston, W. Va., Burford graduated from Salem High School in Salem, Ohio, in 1962 and attended Kent State University for two years before receiving a degree in robotics from Lorraine Community College. He also attended the University of Jacksonville in Florida.
Burford worked 20 years at U.S. Steel in Youngstown and Lorraine, Ohio, and 10 years at Impac Operations for PraxAir. He has lived in Buffalo three years.
He was an avid basketball and football fan and loved gardening.
Survivors include a son, Bert of Canfield, Ohio; a daughter, Connie Kidd of Lewisville, Texas; three sisters, Margaret Buchanan of Parkersburg, W. Va., Barbara Bane of Crab Orchard, W. Va., and Ann Neal of Lecanto, Fla.; two brothers, Zack Edward Jr. of Hubbard, Ohio, and Guy of Newburg, Ohio, and one granddaughter;
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Higgins Funeral Home, 4303 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, Ohio.
