ABANDONMENT OF DOG CHARGED

A former Jamestown couple was arrested in Niagara Falls Friday on a warrant for allegedly abandoning a dog.

The animal was found Wednesday, chained in a back yard at 830 Washington St. with no food or water. Jamestown police said the young dog had been abandoned and was so emaciated it could not stand up.

Neighbors said the owners had left some time in October. Vedric Booker, 33, and Cathleen Dolan, 24, were charged with torturing and injuring an animal and failure to provide sustenance.

They were arraigned in City of Jamestown Court and sent to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail each.

The dog is being treated by a veterinarian.
